Environment Virginia announces 2008 College Career Night! Reported in the Wall Street Journal Online, a MonsterTRAK.com poll on green employment has found that “80% of young professionals are interested in securing a job that has a positive impact on the environment” (http://online.wsj.com/article/SB119492843191791132.html). Whether students applied to their majors with the environment in mind, or have become interested in the growth of “green” over the past couple of years, many organizations are focused on the environment these days, and are looking for the talent to achieve eco-friendly goals. To help connect these organizations with this talent, the Virginia Military Institute Research Laboratories is pleased to announce it will host a Career Night April 2, 2008 in conjunction with the 19th Annual Environment Virginia Symposium at the Virginia Military Institute! We are excited to organize this inaugural event for Environment Virginia, and hope to have participation from students at your school. Environment Virginia is currently inviting sponsors and exhibitors to commit to the conference this year. Previous supporters of the conference include several state agencies, major state and regional businesses, engineering firms, law firms, and not-for-profit organizations. The conference houses 84 exhibit booths during the three-day conference, where several professionals conduct business and network. A list of last year’s sponsors and exhibitors can be found below. This event has been asked for by several organizations associated with the event, so support for your students will be of high importance! We have set aside time specifically for students to visit exhibit booths before the Wednesday evening Environment Virginia Banquet, and students will be invited to stay to enjoy one of the conference’s Keynote Speakers, dinner, and the Governor’s Environmental Excellence Awards afterwards. We do ask that students register for the conference if they are attending this event. The registration fee for students for the conference are extremely low, only $25, compared to regular registration fees. With registration to the conference, your students will be able to attend any of the conference speakers and workshops over the three-day conference as well, in addition to the Career Night. We will have staff to check in pre-registered students at the door of the conference hall, and to register students who have not done so beforehand online. There will also be online kiosks at the conference that the student may register at. We hope your best and brightest environmental sciences, engineering, business, public health, and agriculture students will join us for this event!
